Hashing…
The Hash House Harriers (abbreviated to HHH, H3, or referred to simply as Hashing) is an international group of non-competitive running, social, and drinking clubs, and commonly referred to as “drinkers with a r*nning problem.” An event organized by a club is known as a hash, with participants calling themselves Hashers.
One harrier – referred to as the hare – lays a trail of flour over a course (s)he chooses. The other harriers (the hounds) try to follow that trail to the end where they enjoy munchies and a beverage. The typical hash is 3-5 miles through the city. Anyone over 21 is welcome to join. The run or walk easily accommodates all abilities. The hash isn’t a race – there are no prizes. The challenge is following the trail and camaraderie and beverages are the rewards.
Charm City Hashes are generally held in Baltimore city every other weekend, sometimes on Friday evenings and sometimes on Saturday afternoons. Upcoming hash details are available in the calendar!
